The South American Formula 3 Championship played most of its races on Brazilian tracks, but in its final years it also held regular race weekends in Argentina and Uruguay .

In addition to the main class, there was again a newcomer class with older Formula 3 vehicles, the F3 Light . A harder and therefore more durable tire compound was also used in this.

Before the season, in January, the F3 Brazil Open took place annually from 2010 to 2014 at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace , which was not officially part of the South American Formula 3 Championship, but used the same regulations and in which the same teams participated.

The series was discontinued at the end of 2013 in favor of the Brazilian Formula 3 Championship .

vehicle

From the 2009 season the Dallara F309 AS was used in the main class with a Ford 2.0 four-cylinder engine prepared by Berta , which produced 255 hp. In the F3 Light class, the Dallara F301 Berta, which was used in the main class before 2009, was used. In both cases the tire supplier was Pirelli .
