Felipe Guimarães (born March 22, 1991 in Anápolis ) is a former Brazilian automobile racing driver . In 2013 he won the South American Formula 3 Championship .

Career

Guimarães began his motorsport career in karting in 2000 , where he was active until 2006. In the following years he continued to compete in some kart races. 2007 Guimarães got on the single-seater racing and was with two wins at once fourth in the South American Formula 3 Championship .

In 2008 Guimarães moved to Europe in the Euroseries 3000 , in which he started 6 of 16 races. At the end of the season he finished ninth overall with a second place as the best result. In the winter of 2008/09 Guimarães competed in the A1GP series for the Brazilian team . As the only pilot in the team, he achieved second place. The team reached 15th place overall. Then he started for Bryan Herta Autosport in three races of the Indy Lights and finished second, third and fourth. He finished the drivers' championship in 23rd place. In 2010 Guimarães returned to Europe and started for the Addax team in the newly founded GP3 series . At the end of the season he finished 16th overall with a third place as the best result.

In 2011 and 2012 Guimarães could not find a fixed cockpit and competed in some races of the South American Formula 3 championship. In 2011 he competed in a race for Cesário Fórmula . In 2012 he competed six times for Hitech Racing . He got four victories. In 2013 Guimarães completed the entire season of the South American Formula 3 championship for Hitech Racing. He won 13 races and won the championship. He also won the F3 Brazil Open for Hitech Racing in 2013 and 2014 . In addition, Guimarães started in 2013 for Fortec Motorsports in the British Formula 3 championship . He achieved two victories and was fourth in the drivers' championship. In 2014 Guimarães initially switched to Double R Racing in the European Formula 3 championship . He scored twice. After several accidents and five failures in a row, he decided to leave the series after the sixth race weekend. At the end of the season he was in 22nd place. In addition, Guimarães took part in a total of three touring car races in the Brazilian Touring Car Championship and the Petrobras de Marcas Cup in 2014 .
