Duncan Tappy (born June 26, 1984 in West Ewell , Surrey , England ) is a British racing driver .

Career

Tappy started his career in karting like most motorsport enthusiasts and was active in this sport until 2003. In 2003 he also made his debut in formula racing in the British Formula Zip , which he finished in eleventh place. In 2004 he only entered the British Formula Ford winter series towards the end of the year and won the runner-up title. In 2005 he started for Jamun Racing in the regular championship of the British Formula Ford and won half of the races. Despite the many victories, the Briton was not enough to win the championship and he was runner-up behind his team-mate Charlie Donnelly .

In 2006 Tappy stayed with Jamun Racing and took part in the British Formula Renault . In his first season he finished 18th overall. In 2007 he played his second season for Fortec Motorsport . The Brit won 9 out of 20 races and won the championship title ahead of teammate Dean Smith . He also took part in races of the North European and French Formula Renault.

After the Briton took part in A1 Grand Prix test drives for the British team at the beginning of 2008 , he started in sports car races . He competed in one race in the Le Mans Series and two races in the British Porsche Carrera Cup . He then returned to formula racing and replaced Borja García at RC Motorsport in the World Series by Renault . He completed a total of eight races and finished the season in 23rd place overall. In addition, he started ten of twelve races in the first season of the Superleague Formula , a racing series in which football clubs compete with formula racing cars, for the Tottenham Hotspur team supported by GTA Motor Competición . A second place was his best result.

In 2009, Tappy only took part in individual races in various racing series. First he started in the first two races of the North American Indy Lights and did not finish in both races. He then took part in the first two races of the international Formula Master . After he was not used in any other races in this series, he entered the first four races of the Superleague Formula for the Galatasaray Istanbul team supervised by Ultimate Motorsport . In 2010 Tappy received a cockpit for one season in the Auto GP at DAMS . With second place as the best result, he finished third overall behind his teammates Romain Grosjean and Edoardo Piscopo at the end of the season . He also competes in some races in the 2010 Superleague Formula season for the Flamengo Rio de Janeiro team supported by Alpha Motorsport . After the tenth race weekend, Tappy was on the podium a total of five times. He did not succeed in victory.

Others

In 2005 and 2007, Tappy was nominated for the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award , but never received the award.
