Pasquale Di Sabatino (born January 20, 1988 in Atri ) is an Italian racing driver . He competed in Formula Renault 3.5 from 2006 to 2009 . He has been competing in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) since 2012 .

Career

Like most motorsport enthusiasts , Di Sabatino began his career in karting , in which he was active from 1999 to 2004. In 2005 he switched to the single-seater racing and was an instant champion of Italian Formula Junior. He then took part in the winter series of the Italian Formula Renault and was tenth overall. In 2006 he started in the Italian Formula Renault before making his debut in the Formula Renault 3.5 as a replacement for Miloš Pavlović at Cram Competition . He didn't score any points in either series. In 2007 Di Sabatino stayed in Formula Renault 3.5 and started for GD Racing . At the end of the season he finished in ninth place as the best result, 26th overall.

In 2008 Di Sabatino switched to Comtec Racing and was second on the podium in the first race of the season. In the further course he did not build on the initial success and was replaced by Sten Pentus after seven race weekends due to financial problems . In the overall standings, he finally finished 20th. In 2009 di Sabatino stayed again in Formula Renault 3.5 and contested his fourth season in this championship. Starting for RC Motorsport , he achieved his first victory at the Hungaroring . With another podium place, he finished twelfth in the overall standings at the end of the season. Also this season he did not take part in the last race weekend due to financial problems.

After Di Sabatino 2010, only the first four races of the Italian Formula 3 Championship for the team Alan Racing had participated and remained without points, he started in 2011 in Auto GP . After starting the first race weekend for Ombra Racing , he switched to TP Formula within the series . With fourth place as the best race result, he finished the season in twelfth place overall.

In 2012 Di Sabatino switched to touring car racing and competes for bamboo engineering in a Chevrolet Cruze 1.6T in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). After the first half of the season, a 12th place is his best result. He was unable to start the rest of the season due to an injury, and paused in 2013. In 2014 Di Sabatino started on a BMW 320 TC for Liqui Moly Team Engstler .
