Engstler Motorsport
Engstler Motorsport is a private German motorsport team run by team boss Franz Engstler . It is based in Wiggensbach . The main sponsor is Liqui Moly .
history
Beginnings in the STW
Franz Engstler entered the Super Touring Car Cup in 1996 with his own motorsport team and brought two Alfa Romeo 155 to the start, which he and Oliver Mayer drove. Stephen Vollmair grabbed the steering wheel of the second Alfas on two runs . In 1997 Engstler deployed four vehicles, which were driven by himself, Frank Schmickler , Marco Bromberger and Danny Pfeil . Schmickler did not contest the entire season and so Vollmair and Gianni Giudici stepped in for him. After a year break, in 1999 two Alfas drove again under the direction of Franz Engstler. He drove one of them, the other was driven first by Christian Zink and then by Wolfgang Treml .
Success in the Procar series and in the Far East
Engstler Motorsport has been active in the ADAC Procar series with a BMW 320i since 2000 . Franz Engstler won the championship in his first year. In 2005 Engstler and Fariqe Hairuman started for the team in the Asian Touring Car Championship . Engstler won the championship. Towards the end of the season, Engstler and Hairuman competed in two races in the ADAC Procar series. In 2006 Engstler, whose teammates were now Ao Chi Hong and, alternately, Andreas Klinge and Markus Lungstrass , defended the title. While the team continued to take part in the Asian Touring Car Championship, team boss Franz Engstler retired to Germany after the season. In the same year, Engstler and Rustem Teregulov also represented the team in some races in the ADAC Procar series. In 2007 Engstler now fully concentrated on the ADAC Procar series. He used four vehicles at times and won the championship alongside Teregulov, Oleg Petrishin and Andrei Romanow . Meanwhile, Masaki Kano drove for Engstler Motorsport in the Asian Touring Car Championship.
World Touring Car Championship
As in 2005 , Engstler Motorsport took part in the last two races of the World Touring Car Championship in Macau in 2007 as a guest driver . The vehicles were driven by Engstler and Romanow. In 2008 Engstler Motorsport contested a full season in the World Touring Car Championship for the first time. New vehicles were also purchased. Engstler and Romanow now drove on two BMW 320si . In the last four races in Japan and Macau, Masaki Kano also grabbed the steering wheel of an "old" 320i. In Macau, Engstler was the best private driver and with a sixth place got three world championship points. He succeeded in the runner-up in the private driver championship. In 2008, Engstler and Romanow also took part in several races in the ADAC Procar series in a BMW 320i. Martin Brückl , Stefan Neuberger , Jack Lemvard and Remo Friberg also competed there for Engstler Motorsport . Kano and Lemvard, who won the championship, drove in the Asian Touring Car Championship.
In 2009 Engstler Motorsport took part in the World Touring Car Championship again. Kristian Poulsen became Franz Engstler's new team-mate. Engstler was the best private driver at the second run in Morocco and achieved a world championship point with eighth place. In the 2009 ADAC Procar series, a BMW 320si was used for the first time, driven by Roland Hertner . The other drivers on the team are Timur Gainutdinov , Petrishin and Friberg. Engstler Motorsport will no longer take part in the Asian Touring Car Championship in 2009.
