Oliver Mayer (born January 5, 1958 in Ingolstadt ) is a German racing driver and businessman. Mayer has been active in motorsport since 1977 , first on two wheels and then on four wheels in touring car racing .

He also runs a car dealership in Ingolstadt and a museum with a total of 150 classic cars , mainly motorcycles .

Career

Mayer drove motocross from 1976 to 1987 , but also started karting in 1982 .

In 1988 Mayer drove his first touring car race as part of the Treser Cup on the AVUS . In 1993 he made his debut in the German GT Cup , where he drove until 1995. In 1996 he competed in both the German Porsche Carrera Cup and with an Alfa Romeo from Team Engstlers in the Super touring Car Cup (STW). A year later he drove in the Ferrari-Porsche Challenge . In 1998 he returned to the STW, and also drove in the German VW New Beetle Cup . In 1999 he finished third in an Audi A4 at the Macau Grand Prix of touring cars . In 2000 he also contested a race in the Euro STC Cup .

In 2001 Mayer drove the V8-Star with his own team, Oliver Mayer Motorsport, after which he only competed in individual racing events for a few years, such as the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in 2003, 2004 and 2008. In 2005 he contested the season of the Porsche Supercup , 2006 again the German Porsche Carrera Cup. In 2007 Mayer won the class classification of the Porsche Alpine Cup, and from 2008 competed in the ADAC GT Masters in a Corvette C6 Z06-R GT3 , Audi R8 LMS and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 . In 2009 he drove for the Rosberg team in two races of the FIA GT3 European Championship . In 2011 Mayer ended his active racing career, and since then he has occasionally competed in classic car events.
