Jordi Gené i Guerrero (born December 5, 1970 in Sabadell ) is a Spanish racing driver who has been competing in the World Touring Car Championship since 2005 .

Career

Jordi Gené began his motorsport career in karting . In 1986 he won the Spanish Kart Championship, in 1987 the Fiat Uno Championship and in 1988 he was champion in the Spanish Formula Ford .

In 1989, Gené switched to the British Formula Ford and achieved fifth place in the overall standings. In 1992, Gené entered Formula 3000 . In 1993 , a deployment in the newly founded Spanish Formula 1 team Bravo España was planned; However, nothing came of it because Bravo ceased operations before the first race of the year. Instead, Gené became a Formula 1 test driver for Benetton-Ford . In 1994 he drove a few races in the Spanish touring car championship and half a season in Formula 3000. After finishing second in the 1995 Spanish touring car championship, he won the 1996 championship title.

In 1998 and 1999 Gené entered the European Truck Championship for Mercedes. In 2000 and 2001 he competed in the Spanish GT series and the European Le Mans series. From 2002 to 2004 he drove in the European Touring Car Championship . Jordi Gené has been competing in the newly introduced World Touring Car Championship for Seat since 2005.

Jordi Gené is married and has two children. His younger brother Marc Gené is also active as a racing driver.
