Peter Owen

Peter Owen (* before 1982) is a British makeup artist and wig maker who was awarded an Oscar .

Career

Peter Owen graduated from the University of Bristol and received an Honorary Award in 2004.

His film career began in 1982 with The Draftsman's Contract , when he was responsible for making the wigs. In addition to this job, he was also responsible for the make-up of various films, such as the films The Grotesque and Sleepy Hollow . Since 1996 he has been regularly responsible for the wigs of individual stars. He made the second head of hair for John Malkovich for the films Mary Reilly , The Unhold , Shadow of the Vampire and Klimt or was responsible for the hairstyle. Other stars were Ralph Fiennes in A Touch of Sunshine , Nicole Kidman in The Others , Michelle Pfeiffer in A Thousand Morning and Up Close, and Julianne Moore in Wild Innocence .

For his artistic achievements in the film The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of Owen received in the Academy Awards 2002 in the category Best Makeup and Best hairstyles one Oscar and the British Academy Film Awards 2002 a BAFTA Award in the category Best mask . For the two sequels, Owen received two further nominations at the BAFTA Awards in the following years, this time the awards went to the competitors. He received his last BAFTA Award nomination in 2006 for his work at Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory .
