Andrei Romanov

Andrei Romanow ( Russian Андрей Романов ; born July 10, 1979 in Moscow ) is a Russian racing driver .

Career

Romanov began his motorsport career in 2003 with a VW Polo in the Russian Light Touring Car Championship. A year later he switched to the Russian Lada Cup, which he finished in 18th place in 2004 and in sixth place the following year. In 2006 he took part in the Russian Touring Car Championship with a Honda Civic Type R , in which he reached 18th place in the championship. In parallel, he took part in the Russian Honda Civic Cup, in which he was twelfth. In the same year he also competed in a Citroën Saxo VTS for the first time in a race in the ADAC Procar series .

In 2007 Romanow switched to the ADAC Procar series for a full season and competed there with a BMW 320i from the Engstler Motorsport team. He achieved second place in the overall standings. He made his first appearance in the World Touring Car Championship at the season finale in Macau . In 2008 he competed for Engstler Motorsport, now in the BMW 320si , for a full season in the World Touring Car Championship and finished fifth in the private drivers' championship. In 2009, he was back in the ADAC Procar series. He started with a Chevrolet Lacetti from the Maurer Motorsport team and achieved sixth place overall with three wins. In 2010 Romanow returned to Engstler Motorsport in the World Touring Car Championship.
