Tomáš Kostka (born August 27, 1984 in Gottwaldov , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech automobile racing driver .

Career

In 2001 Kostka's motorsport career began in the Czech Formula Ford and in the Czech Ford Puma Cup . In 2002 he moved to Team ISR in the German Formula BMW , in which he remained without points. He also competed in two Austrian Formula 3 races . In 2003 he moved to the German Formula 3 Cup and finished eighth in the championship standings with a third place.

In 2004 Kostkas initially competed in the season opener of the Euro Formula 3000 . However, it was replaced after one race. He then took part in five racing weekends in the World Series by Nissan for RC Motorsport . He finished the season in 23rd place overall. He also returned to the German Formula 3 Cup for two races and finished both on the podium, placing him twelfth in the overall standings. In 2005 he moved to Victory Engineering and played his second season in the championship, now renamed World Series by Renault . After seven race weekends, he left his team and at the end of the season was again 23rd overall. In 2006 he moved to Draco Racing and became a teammate of Pastor Maldonado . While his team-mate drove for the championship, Kostka only achieved a few points. He was replaced by Miloš Pavlović after six race weekends . In the overall standings he was 30. He then joined Charouz Racing System at a race weekend of the F3000 International Masters . Kostka won his first race and was 16th in the drivers' championship. He then took part for the Czech team on the first race weekend of the 2006/2007 A1GP season .

In 2007 he became a test driver in the DTM for Colin Kolles' Futurecom team . He started in only one race this year, the Le Mans 24-hour race . In 2008 he drove parallel to his test driver engagement in the Czech international championship and became runner-up in Division 4 . In 2009 he got a regular cockpit in the DTM at Kolles Futurecom and started in a two-year-old Audi A4 DTM . With two eleventh places as the best results, he remained without points for the entire season. However, he was the best-placed driver with a 2007 DTM car.

In 2010 Kostka took part for Charouz-Gravity Racing in the first race weekend of the Auto GP , a follow-up series to the Euro Formula 3000. He couldn't start in either race. In 2011 Kostka competed for Gravity Charouz Racing in the FIA GT3 European Championship .
