Alexei Igorewitsch Wassiljew

Alexei Igorewitsch Wassiljew ( Russian Алексей Игоревич Васильев ; born January 13, 1972 in Moscow ) is a Russian racing driver .

Career

Vasilyev began his racing career in Russia in the 1990s. In 1996 and 1997 he won the overall ranking of the Russian touring car championship on the Lada Samara racing model . He first appeared internationally in 2003 when he contested the entire season of the FIA GT Championship in the GT2 class in a Porsche 911 GT3 RS . In 2004 he made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans . The team, Wassiljew drove with his compatriot Nikolai Fomenko and the Briton Robert Nearn in a team, dropped out early due to an accident. Until 2008, the Russian competed five times in the endurance race on the Sarthe. His best placement was 14th overall in 2007 .

In the 2005/2006 A1GP season , he contested two races for A1 Team Russia and was also active in the Le Mans Series in 2008 . Vasiliev has been driving in the Ferrari Challenge since 2008 .
