Peter Kox
Peter Kox (born February 23, 1964 in Eindhoven ) is a Dutch automobile racing driver .
Career
Like so many racing drivers, Peter Kox began his career in karting . By 1982 he was able to win five titles in this motorsport formula. In 1983 he switched to racing cars and won the overall ranking of the international Formula Ford championship . In 1989 he secured the overall title of the Benelux countries extended Formula Opel Championship .
The Dutchman got into Formula 3000 in 1991 via the British Formula 3 championship (third in the overall standings in 1990) . He drove two seasons in this racing series and was able to celebrate a race win. However , he did not make the hoped-for leap into Formula 1 . He then began to build a career as a touring and sports car driver .
After two years in the Dutch touring car championship, Kox became a works driver for BMW . In 1995 he finished second overall in the Super Touring Car Cup and won the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race . In 1996 he switched to the British Touring Car Championship and competed in sports car races with the McLaren F1 , which had a 12-cylinder BMW engine . He made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a fourth place overall and a year later, as a partner of Roberto Ravaglia and Eric Hélary, achieved his best place in this endurance race with third overall.
After the end of the BMW contract, he drove touring car races for Honda and in Le Mans the Prodrive- Ferrari Maranello - with a class win in 2003 -, the Aston Martin DBR9 and the Spyker C8 .
In recent years, Kox has competed in a Lamborghini Murciélago in the FIA GT Championship and the ADAC GT Masters series .
