Mike Hezemans
Mike Hezemans (born July 25, 1969 in Eindhoven ) is a Dutch racing driver .
family
Mike Hezemans represents the third generation of the Hezemans racing family. His grandfather Mathieu was active in the 1950s and the first driver in the family to compete in the Le Mans 24-hour race . In 1956 he and his compatriot Carel Godin de Beaufort drove a Porsche 550/4 Spyder registered by Wolfgang Seidel . His father Antoine, known as Toine , was twice European Touring Car Champion and won the Targa Florio in 1971 . His younger brother Loris also took up the profession of professional racing driver.
Racing career
Mike Hezemans began his career in karting and switched to the GT scene in the early 1990s . He celebrated his first successes in the Porsche Supercup , which he finished sixth overall in 1993 . In the same year he was fifth in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany .
Two years before that, he made his first appearance in a classic sports car race on the podium. He finished third in the 1991 Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race ; Team partners in the Porsche 911 Carrera 2 were Jeroen Hin and Wolfgang Land . In 1997 he received a contract with GT1 Lotus Racing for assignments in the FIA GT Championship . However, the Lotus Elise GT1 was not very competitive. In 1998 he therefore tried his own report. The Elise GT1 he acquired was revised by Bitter in Ennepetal , Germany, and used by Hezemans as the Bitter GT1 . No successes could be achieved with the car. Hezemans therefore switched to Roock Racing halfway through the season and drove a Porsche 911 G2 there .
Success came in 2000 with the Chrysler Viper GTS-R from Carsport Holland. Behind the overall winners Julian Bailey and Jamie Campbell-Walter in the Lister Storm GTS , he finished the championship in third overall. Also in 2001 he reached this position in the final ranking. In 2008 and 2009 he was runner-up in this championship. His last full racing season so far was the 2012 Blancpain Endurance Series .
His best place in the Le Mans 24 Hours was finishing 13th in 2000 . In 1999 he was sixteenth overall in Sebring .
