Peter Kitchak

Peter Kitchak (born July 9, 1941 in Duluth ) is an American winemaker and former racing car driver .

Racing career

Peter Kitchak came to motorsport late. It was not until the age of 55 that the wealthy American began racing in sports cars in 1996 . He started the SCCA sports car series and switched to the IMSA GT championship in 1997 . Kitchak primarily contested internationally known sports car races, such as the 24-hour race at Daytona , the 12-hour race at Sebring and the 24-hour race at Le Mans .

His greatest success was fourth place in the 1998 24-hour race in Daytona . Kitchak was a member of a five-driver team consisting of Kitchak, Toni Seiler , Wido Rössler , Angelo Zadra and Franz Konrad . Konrad was the owner of the emergency vehicle; he registered a Porsche 911 GT2 for Konrad Motorsport . The fourth place in the final classification also meant victory in the GT2 class.

He did not reach the checkered flag in any of the three Le Mans races and his best result at Sebring was 12th in 1997 .

Winemaker

In 2005 he and his wife Patricia opened a winery in the Napa Valley . Kitchak Cellars presses and sells typical Napa Valley wines such as Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon .
