Wolfgang Land

Wolfgang Land (* 1953 ) is a German motorsport team owner and former automobile racing driver .

The Land Motorsport team is led by him and his son Jochen Land .

Career

Wolfgang Land began his motorsport career in touring car racing in the 1980s . From 1985 to 1988 he competed in the Volkswagen Polo Cup . There he achieved second place in the overall result in 1985 and 1987. In 1988 he finished the season in third place.

In 1989 he drove in the Porsche 944 Turbo Cup and came third in the race in Zolder .

In the following season he moved to the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany . There he drove all racing seasons from 1990 to 1997. In the first year he and the Kilian team achieved third place in the annual ranking and improved it by one place the following year. He achieved his best results in 1993 and 1997 when he won the championship.

In 1991 he competed at the same time as Mike Hezemans and Jeroen Hin in the 1991 Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race . They finished the endurance race in third place with a Porsche 911 Carrera 2 .

For the Roock Racing Team , he drove a Porsche 964 Carrera RSR 3.8 in the two races at the AVUS and the Nürburgring in the ADAC GT Cup .

In 1995 he competed in the Daytona 24-hour race for the Daytona Racing team with a Porsche 993 Carrera RSR in the GTS-2 class of the IMSA GTS championship. The team could not finish the race - but still finished 18th in the ranking.

In the same year, Wolfgang Land and his son founded the Land Motorsport team . He has held the position of team manager since the team was founded. The team’s greatest success so far was winning the drivers' and team titles in the 2016 ADAC GT Masters .
