Jonkheer Carel Pieter Anthonie Jan Hubertus Godin de Beaufort, Heer van Maarn en Maarsbergen (born April 10, 1934 in Maarsbergen , Netherlands ; † August 2, 1964 in Cologne ) was a Dutch Formula 1 racing driver.

Career

De Beaufort took part in 31 Grands Prix (28 starts) from August 4, 1957 and scored a total of four World Championship points. During training for the 1964 German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring , he had a fatal accident in his private Porsche 718 from 1961. De Beaufort was 23rd when a defective rim was discovered on his car. Nevertheless, he still started on a timed lap. In the mine he lost control of his Porsche, got off the lane and hit a tree. De Beaufort was thrown out of the car and was paralyzed because his spinal cord was injured. He was taken to a hospital in Koblenz and then transferred to a hospital in Cologne, where he succumbed to his injuries.
