Heinrich Schneider (politician, 1905)

Heinrich Schneider (born November 9, 1905 in Dorlar , † January 22, 1980 in Wiesbaden ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Schneider initially worked as a bricklayer and became active in the trade union movement. There he also worked as a journalist. During the time of National Socialism he was under police supervision and was banned from working.

After the Second World War he was active again for the SPD and belonged to the Hessian state parliament from 1946 to 1971 , and from 1953 to 1955 as parliamentary leader of his party. From 1955 to 1969 he was the Hessian interior minister and deputy prime minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Georg-August Zinn .

Schneider was the first president of the German-Yugoslav Society (German Society for the Promotion of Relations with Yugoslavia) founded on August 21, 1968, based in Frankfurt am Main (today the German-Croatian Society).
