Hanns-Heinz Bielefeld (born December 9, 1918 in Hamborn ; † January 17, 2018 in Wiesbaden ) was a German politician ( FDP ) and interior minister in Hesse.

Life and work

After attending school, Bielefeld completed an apprenticeship as a banker and later worked at the Sparkasse . During the Second World War , he did labor and military service from 1939–45. He was wounded four times and was taken prisoner of war.

After his release from captivity in November 1945, he worked in the public service and in 1947 became a civil servant office manager in Bad Schwalbach . He was also chairman of the supervisory board of the non-profit home building company.

Political party

Bielefeld joined the FDP and was a member of the state board of the FDP Hesse as well as chairman of the regional political committee of the FDP. 1973 to 1977 he was chairman of the Wiesbaden district association of the FDP. On July 7, 1978, he resigned from the party.

Bielefeld was a member of the Hessian state parliament from 1962 to 1970 and from 1974 to 1978 .

Public offices

Bielefeld served as mayor of the city of Schlitz from July 1, 1960 to 1970 . After the formation of a social-liberal coalition, he was appointed Minister of State of the Interior in the state government of Hesse led by Prime Minister Albert Osswald on December 16, 1970 as the successor to Johannes Strelitz . During his term of office, the regional reform in Hesse , which was implemented against some fierce resistance at the municipal level, fell . After Prime Minister Osswald submitted his resignation due to the Helaba scandal , Bielefeld was not nominated again as Minister of the Interior by the FDP and therefore left the state government on October 20, 1976. For Bielefeld, this was the reason for leaving the party in 1978.
