Armin Clauss

Armin Clauss (born March 16, 1938 in Lauffen am Neckar ) is a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ) and a former member of the Hessian state parliament .

Life and work

After attending primary school, Clauss started a civil service career and worked for the Deutsche Bundespost from 1952 to 1960 , most recently as head of a personnel department. In 1960/61 he continued his education in the fields of social policy, economics and business administration as well as social sciences at the Academy of Labor in Frankfurt am Main . In 1961/62 he worked as an assistant at the Fritz Tarnow School in Oberursel .

Clauss joined IG Metall in 1952 and acted as a full-time union secretary from 1962 to 1972. From 1972 to 1976 he was chairman of the DGB state district of Hesse . In 2001 he was elected to the administrative board of the Hessischer Rundfunk . In 2003 he was the company representative of Diakoniewerk Bethanien eV in Frankfurt am Main at the Frankfurter Diakonie-Kliniken gGmbH. In 2011 he was also deputy chairman of the Agaplesion clinic network .

Armin Clauss was married to Ingeborg Buhe, the daughter of the Heilbronn set designer Herbert Buhe.

Political party

Clauss joined the SPD in 1959. From 1995 to 2001 he was deputy state chairman of the SPD Hessen.

MP

Clauss was a member of the Hessian state parliament from 1970 to 2003 . There he was deputy chairman in 1973/74 and chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from 1974 to 1976. From 1987 to 1989 he was again deputy chairman and from 1994 to 2001 chairman of the social democratic parliamentary group. From 1988 to 1991 he was Vice President of the State Parliament. In the state elections in Hesse in 1983 he was directly elected in the constituency of Frankfurt am Main II , otherwise he entered parliament via the SPD state list.

Public offices

On October 20, 1976, Clauss was appointed to the state government led by Prime Minister Holger Börner as Hessian Minister of Social Affairs . His authority changed the name on July 4, 1984 to take account of the growing environmental awareness of the population and was henceforth called the Ministry of Labor, Environment and Social Affairs.

After the formation of a coalition of the SPD and the Greens , an independent ministry for the environment and energy was created under Joschka Fischer , and Clauss's department was again called the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs on December 12, 1985. After the SPD's defeat in the state elections in 1987 , Clauss left the government on April 24, 1987.
