Heribert Reitz

Heribert Reitz (born June 1, 1930 in Offheim , today a district of Limburg an der Lahn ; † March 11, 2018 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and minister of state in several Hessian state governments.

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1951, Reitz joined the senior service of the Deutsche Bundespost and worked there until 1971, most recently as post chief inspector. In addition to his ministerial office, he was later chairman of the supervisory board of Flughafen AG Frankfurt am Main .

Political party

Reitz joined the SPD in 1957, became deputy chairman of the SPD district of Hesse-South in 1976 and at the same time a member of the state executive committee of the SPD Hesse .

MP

Reitz had been a council member of the Offheim community since 1960 and was elected to the district council of Limburg in 1968. In the course of the territorial reform in 1974 he became a council member of the city ​​of Limburg and a member of the district council of the Limburg-Weilburg district . He was a member of the Hessian state parliament from 1962 to 1991, where he was chairman of the budget committee from 1968 to 1970 and chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from 1970 to 1972.

Government offices

On April 11, 1972, Reitz was appointed finance minister of Hesse to the state government led by Prime Minister Albert Osswald . He also remained in office in the subsequent government headed by Prime Minister Holger Börner . After the break of the social-liberal coalition, he also took over the provisional management of the Ministry of Economics and Technology on September 28, 1982. Since Reitz strictly refused to work with the Greens , he left the government on July 3, 1984 at his own request.
