Florian Rentsch (born March 7, 1975 in Kassel ) is a former German politician ( FDP ) and was a member of the Hessian state parliament . Since July 1, 2017, he has been Chairman of the Board of the Association of Sparda Banks. V. in Frankfurt.

Career

Rentsch grew up in Kaufungen or Oberkaufungen as the youngest of four children. He has three older sisters. After graduation in 1995 at the Friedrich School in Kassel studied Rentsch 1995-2000 Law at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt and at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . He passed the first state examination in 2000 and the second state examination in 2003 in Wiesbaden . From 2001 to 2003 he was a trainee lawyer in the Wiesbaden Regional Court district with various stations. These included the Wiesbaden Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen . From the end of 2003 to May 2012 and since 2014, Rentsch has been a lawyer in commercial law firms in Wiesbaden and Frankfurt .

Florian Rentsch has been a member of the FDP since 1996, where he was district manager of the FDP Wiesbaden from 1997 to 1999, and from 2000 to 2004 he was state chairman of the Young Liberals of Hesse and a member of the state board. Since 2005 he has been the district chairman of the FDP Westhessen-Nassau. From 2006 to 2014 he was district chairman of the FDP Wiesbaden. In May 2011 he was unanimously elected spokesman for the FDP parliamentary group chairman conference and at the 62nd party congress in Rostock to the federal executive committee of the FDP.

From 2001 to 2006 he was city councilor in Wiesbaden and from 2016 to 2017 honorary city councilor in Wiesbaden.

Rentsch was a member of the Hessian state parliament from April 5, 2003 to May 15, 2017 and during the 16th legislative period was deputy chairman of the hardship commission at the Hessian Minister of the Interior and for Sport and from 2005 to 2008 a member of the petitions committee, the social policy committee, in State Youth Welfare Committee (members according to Section 9 Paragraph 1 No. 1 of the Act on the Implementation of the Child and Youth Welfare Act) as well as in the election committee for the election of judicial members of the Hessian State Court .

During the 17th legislative period from April 5, 2008 to November 19, 2008 Rentsch was Parliamentary Managing Director of the FDP parliamentary group, health policy spokesman for the parliamentary group, and chairman of the parliamentary social policy committee. As health policy spokesman for the FDP parliamentary group, he rejected the law on protection against the dangers of passive smoking that came into force on October 1, 2007, and complained about a "witch hunt" by militant non-smokers on smokers.

After the state elections in Hesse in 2009 and the formation of the coalition government made up of CDU and FDP under Prime Minister Roland Koch (CDU), Rentsch took over the chairmanship of the FDP parliamentary group on February 3, 2009 to May 31, 2012 as the successor to Jörg-Uwe Hahn .

Since May 31, 2012, Rentsch was Dieter Posch's successor as Minister of State in the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Transport and State Development.

In the state elections in Hesse in 2013 , he ran in the Wiesbaden I constituency . and moved back into the state parliament via the state list of his party.

On January 18, 2014, he resigned as Minister of State in the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Transport and Regional Development and was re-elected as parliamentary group leader of the FDP in the Hessian state parliament.

From 2014 to 2017, Florian Rentsch was chairman of the Federal Committee for Economics and Energy of the FDP.

In April 2017, he resigned his mandate in the Hessian state parliament with effect from May 15, 2017, since he became chairman of the board of the Association of Sparda Banks on July 1, 2017 .

He has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom since 2018 .

Private life

Florian Rentsch is married and has a daughter. He lives in Wiesbaden .

Florian Rentsch is a member of Borussia Dortmund and SV Wehen Wiesbaden (SVWW). Rentsch is also actively involved in the SVWW and was the association's vice-president until 2016.
