Positions and controversies

After the Danish government announced the resumption of customs controls at the border crossings to Sweden and Germany to combat cross-border crime, Hahn called in July 2011 to boycott Denmark as a holiday country: “If Denmark reintroduces border controls during holiday time, I can only advise you to do so to turn around and prefer to go on vacation in Austria or Poland. "

On February 7, 2013, Hahn commented in an interview with the Frankfurter Neue Presse on the personnel debate about FDP party leader Philipp Rösler : “With Philipp Rösler, however, I would like to know whether our society is ready for an Asian-looking vice chancellor for longer to accept. ”This statement was rated as racist - not only by political opponents - and therefore provoked controversial reactions. Rösler, other high-ranking representatives of the FDP and advisory councils for foreigners stood behind Hahn and rejected the allegations as being based on misunderstandings.

In the case of the wrongly convicted teacher Horst Arnold ( miscarriage of justice around Horst Arnold ) Hahn made it clear that he was not prepared to make any changes in view of his low compensation of 25 euros per imprisonment day and better rehabilitation of innocent convicts. Such cases would also occur very rarely.
