Jochen Riebel

Jochen Riebel (born March 25, 1945 in Ober-Hilbersheim , Rheinhessen , † June 16, 2015 in Hofheim am Taunus ) was a German politician ( CDU ). Until 2006 he was Minister for Federal and European Affairs in the Hessian State Chancellery , and since 2007 he has worked for a Wiesbaden law firm .

Life

Riebel attended the Rabanus-Maurus-Gymnasium in Mainz. After graduating from high school in 1964, he was initially a temporary soldier . He then completed a law degree with the state examination. Since 1966 he was a member of the Catholic student association VKDSt Hasso-Rhenania Mainz . As a reserve officer , he was last promoted to reserve colonel in the Air Force in 1996 .

He was Catholic and married.

Riebel was Mayor of Eschborn from 1979 to 1984 , Lord Mayor of Frankenthal from 1984 to 1989 , District Administrator of the Main-Taunus District from 1990 to 1999 and State Secretary of the Hessian Ministry of Finance in 1999/2000 .

After the state elections in Hesse on February 7, 1999 , Riebel became State Secretary to Finance Minister Karlheinz Weimar in the Hessian state government ( Koch I cabinet ). On September 12, 2000, Prime Minister Koch appointed Riebel to succeed Franz Josef Jung as head of the state chancellery and as authorized representative for federal affairs. After the state elections in 2003, Riebel became Minister of State for Federal and European Affairs in the Koch II cabinet . Koch dismissed him from this position on March 28, 2006. Riebel's successor was Volker Hoff (CDU).

Riebel was the representative of the state of Hesse on the supervisory board of Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH . Since March 2010 he has been a member of the Advisory Board for Inner Guidance .

In 2010, Riebel was appointed by Limburg Bishop Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst to the newly founded asset management council of the Episcopal See in Limburg. In this role, Riebel attracted media attention when, on October 7, 2013, he informed the public about the considerable additional costs involved in building the diocesan center of St. Nicholas and sharply criticized the bishop.
