Walter Arnold (born August 13, 1949 in Petersberg (Hesse) ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 1999 to 2004 and from 2009 to 2018 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament . From February 2004 to January 30, 2009 he was State Secretary for Finance in the Hessian state government .

Life

After high school and armed forces studies of electrical engineering 1971 to 1978 (degree: Dipl.-Ing.). Arnold is chairman of the CDU district association in Fulda and the CDU district association in East Hesse. Since 2003 he has been a member of the state board of the CDU Hessen . Furthermore, Arnold is honorary chairman of the MIT Mittelstands- und Wirtschaftsvereinigung Hessen of the CDU. From April 7, 1999 to the end of January 2004 and again since the state elections in Hesse in 2009 on January 18, 2009, Walter Arnold was a member of the Hessian state parliament . He was always directly elected in the Fulda I constituency. In the parliamentary group he is deputy chairman and economic policy spokesman as well as responsible for the areas of forestry and hunting policy. From February 3, 2004, Arnold was State Secretary of Finance for the Roland Koch government . In the meantime, he took a leave of absence from office to accept the mandate in the new Hessian state parliament. On March 18, 2008, however, Roland Koch announced that Arnold would continue to be available to the executive state government. On January 30, 2009, Arnold resigned from his post as State Secretary in the Hessian Ministry of Finance in order to take up his mandate as a directly elected MP. His successor as State Secretary for Finance was Thomas Schäfer . He is directly elected representative of the constituency Fulda I . In the state elections in Hesse in 2018 , he no longer ran and thus left parliament.

Arnold has been a member of the Fulda district council since 2001, where he is deputy parliamentary group chairman.
