Gustav Feick

Gustav Feick (born March 31, 1904 in Darmstadt-Eberstadt ; † February 23, 1983 ) was a German economist and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Gustav Otto Feick was born on March 31, 1904 in Darmstadt-Eberstadt. After graduating from high school, Feick first completed a commercial apprenticeship. He then took up a degree in economics at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , which he completed in 1930 with a doctorate as Dr. rer. pole. finished. He then worked in the private sector for banks, trade associations and companies. He was drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1942 and took part in the Second World War as a soldier . He was most recently taken prisoner, from which he was released in 1945. Afterwards he worked as an interpreter in northern Germany.

In 1946, Mayor Ludwig Metzger appointed him city treasurer in Darmstadt. He held this office until 1956. Together with the architect Kurt Jahn , he was one of the fathers of the Wiederaufbau GmbH in Darmstadt. With this company, Darmstadt succeeded in developing into a city characterized by economy and culture.

From 1957 to 1960 he acted as president of the fire insurance chamber in Darmstadt and then acted as city treasurer in Wiesbaden until 1968 .

Feick was from 1954 to 1958 in the constituency Darmstadt-Stadt I directly elected member of the Hessian state parliament .

Public offices

Feick served from June 1956 to November 1957 as State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance in the government of the State of Hesse headed by Prime Minister Georg August Zinn .
