Martin Josef Worms (born June 7, 1954 in Höchst , today Gelnhausen ) is a German administrative lawyer and non-party finance state secretary in Hesse .

After graduating from high school in 1973 in Hanau, Martin Worms studied law and political science at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main until 1977 with both state examinations and subsequent doctoral studies. iur. 1983.

In the same year he joined the Hessian tax administration, changed to the budget department of the Hessian finance ministry in 1985 and one year later became head of department there. From 2003 he headed the budget department. Since September 1, 2017, he has been State Secretary of the Hessian state government. From March 29, 2020 until the appointment of the successor to the late Finance Minister Thomas Schäfer on March 31, 2020, Worms was in charge of the official business of the Hessian Minister of Finance.
