Josef Durstewitz

Josef Durstewitz (born July 24, 1928 in Heilbad Heiligenstadt , † December 19, 1972 in Bad Hersfeld ) was a German administrative lawyer and State Secretary in the Hessian Ministry of Finance.

Josef Durstewitz studied law and received his doctorate in 1954 at the University of Göttingen with a thesis on the legal presumption of innocence (in dubio pro reo) . In 1963 he took over the management of the Hessian state finance school in Rotenburg an der Fulda . He was politically active in the SPD , for which he ran unsuccessfully on the Hessian state list in the 1965 federal election. In 1969 he moved to the Wiesbaden Ministry of Finance as State Secretary. A street in Rotenburg bears his name today.
