Paul Leo Giani

Paul Leo Giani (born April 28, 1942 in Remagen ) is a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ). He is a member of the State Court of Hesse .

Life

He grew up as the youngest of five children of Paul Giani and Hertha geb. Hertel in Remagen. His grandfather was the former mayor of Aachen, Leonhard Giani . His father was a PhD engineer and director at Krupp . After graduating from high school, Paul Leo studied law, history and philosophy in Freiburg, Bonn and Mainz. From 1965 to 1966 he was a member of the board of the Association of German Student Associations (VDS). Giani has been a member of the SPD since 1969.

In 1984 he was involved in the negotiations for the formation of the first red-green state government in Hesse . From July 2, 1985 to February 17, 1987 he was State Secretary and Head of the State Chancellery of Prime Minister Holger Börner . In 1987 he became chairman of the Wilhelm Dröscher Foundation , which was founded by the SPD after the death of his father-in-law Wilhelm Dröscher , and in 1989 chairman of the SPD Ginsheim .

In the 1990s he worked in the real estate industry . He was a member of the board of the Südwestdeutsche Fachakademie der Immobilienwirtschaft eV and on the supervisory board of the non-profit building cooperative Mainspitze eG

In 2003 he was elected chairman of the Landesfilmdienst Hessen eV and appointed to the board of the Association of Private Broadcasting and Telecommunications Companies (VPRT). He is a member of the media commission of the SPD in 2008/2009.

As a lawyer, Giani advises the film producer Alexander Kluge and the film company dctp, which Kluge founded in 1987 .
