Hans Joachim Suchan

Hans Joachim Suchan (born July 25, 1946 in Gießen ) is a German lawyer , administrative officer and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Suchan studied law and then worked as a lawyer and public prosecutor. From 1977 to 1984 he acted as personal advisor and press spokesman for the Hessian Justice Minister Herbert Günther . In addition, he headed a section in the Ministry's criminal law department. From 1988 to 1991 he worked as a practicing lawyer in Frankfurt am Main . He has been a member of the ZDF television council since 1991 and became administrative director and deputy director of the television station in April 1999, which he remained until January 1, 2014. In 2001 he was nominated as a candidate to succeed the ZDF director Dieter Stolte .

Suchan is married and has two children.

Public offices

From 1984 to 1987, Suchan was State Secretary in the Ministry of Justice in the government of the State of Hesse led by Prime Minister Holger Börner . From 1991 to 1999 he was State Secretary and Head of the State Chancellery in the state government headed by Prime Minister Hans Eichel .
