Rudi Soelch

Rudolf "Rudi" Sölch (born November 5, 1931 ) is a former German local politician ( SPD ) and media manager . From 1976 to 1999 he was the administrative director of ZDF .

Life

Sölch studied economics and in 1960 became an economic advisor at IG Metall in Frankfurt am Main . He had already joined the SPD in 1955. In 1966 he became commercial operations manager at the Frankfurter Stadtwerke, before he was appointed city treasurer three years later. In 1972 Sölch became mayor of Frankfurt am Main. As such, he supported the planning for the construction of a large power plant in Frankfurt-Fechenheim , which was ultimately not realized after criticism from citizens and various parties.

In 1976 he went to Mainz as the new administrative director at ZDF . As such, he was later also deputy director Dieter Stolte . In March 1999 Sölch's official farewell took place at ZDF. He remained active in local politics until 1997 and was, among other things, honorary head of the church in Frankfurt. In 1979 he was under discussion as the SPD mayor candidate for the local elections in 1981.

Rudi Sölch is now honorary chairman of the Frankfurt Museum Society .
