Hermann Bach (politician)

Hermann J. Bach (born March 8, 1897 in Darmstadt ; † March 30, 1966 ) was a German lawyer and state secretary .

Life

Bach studied law , political science and administrative sciences at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg , the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn , the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main and the Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen . In 1922 he became a government assessor in the Interior Ministry of the People's State of Hesse . In 1927 he became head of the Hessian State Criminal Police Office in Darmstadt. In 1931 he took over the management of the police headquarters in Offenbach . After the “ seizure of power ” by the National Socialists, he was given leave of absence for political reasons (he was a member of the German Center Party ). He was then in close contact with the resistance fighters Carl Friedrich Goerdeler and Wilhelm Leuschner .

After 1945 he became a member of the SPD and was appointed by the Americans to the district administrator in the Friedberg district . In 1949 he succeeded Hermann Brill as head of the State Chancellery of the State of Hesse under Prime Minister Christian Stock (SPD).

Since 1915 he was a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. Hohenstaufen Freiburg im Breisgau.
