Ober-Hilbersheim is a municipality in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Gau-Algesheim community .
geography
The wine village is located about 15 kilometers southwest of Mainz am Welzbach and is a place characterized by agriculture. Bad Kreuznach is located about 10 kilometers southwest of Ober-Hilbersheim.
Neighboring towns are Nieder-Hilbersheim , Engelstadt , Wolfsheim and Sprendlingen .
history
The first recorded mention is traced back to the year 1108 as Hilbridisheim in a document from the Disibodenberg monastery . Around 1200 the place is owned by the County of Sponheim . A mention of Ober-Hilbersheim as superior hilbersheim to distinguish it from Nieder-Hilbersheim can be found in a document from 1219 of the Archbishop of Mainz Siegfried II von Eppstein . From around 1232 Ober-Hilbersheim belongs to the County of Sponheim, Count Simon III. von Sponheim-Vianden pledged the place on October 1, 1369 to the County of Falkenstein, which remained until 1523. Between 1560 and 1707 the joint ownership fell to the Electoral Palatinate and the Margraviate of Baden-Baden .
Between 1697/1701 and 1880 the church was used by both denominations simultaneously . On October 29, 1795, the Catholic priest Georg Seckardt prevented the cremation of the village as ordered. Ober-Hilbersheim was French between 1797 and 1814 and belongs to the canton of Wörrstadt in the Département du Mont-Tonnerre . From 1835 it belongs to the Alzey district , and in 1852 it changes to the Oppenheim district . The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1862 and the postal service opened in 1876. From 1883 to 1884, the construction of the new Protestant church in place of the simultaneous church in neo-Gothic style and the Catholic St. Joseph's Church on the northern edge of the village began. The telegraph and telephone connection was released on April 26, 1895.
In 1912 Ober-Hilbersheim was electrified. Land consolidation took place between 1926 and 1932 . During the administrative reform in the People's State of Hesse on November 1, 1938, the municipality of Ober-Hilbersheim moved from the dissolved Oppenheim district to the Bingen district, which has since been called the Bingen district . At the end of World War II on March 19, 1945 around 5 p.m., US forces march in .
The establishment of the public house water supply took place in 1954 and 1955. The sewer construction and the construction of a sewage treatment plant followed in 1959. The school closed in 1970 and six years later a kindergarten opened in the schoolhouse. On July 17, 2003, the 1,000th inhabitant was counted for the first time. On October 14, 2005, the local congregation was able to win the silver medal in the state decision of “ Our village has a future ”.

Justification of the coat of arms: In a letter to the Oberamt dated February 1, 1731, the community's court seal is mentioned for the first time. It shows a horse's head looking to the right and the inscription "Oberhilbersheim + S + Rechts". According to an expert report by the State Archives in Speyer, this court seal goes back to 1574. |
