geography

The wine village is located southwest of Mainz in the Welzbachtal and is a place characterized by agriculture.

The Wolfskehlsmühle residential area also belongs to Nieder-Hilbersheim .

history

The first mention in a document of the Seligenstadt Abbey goes back to the year 933.

In the foundation letter of the Disibodenberg monastery from 1108 Hilbersheim is mentioned for the first time as "Hilbriedesheim".

After the year 1300 the name Nieder-Hilbersheim was first mentioned in documents.

In 1334 a church is mentioned for the first time, probably dedicated to St. Martin was consecrated, from which today's coat of arms arose. At that time the place belonged to the Electoral Palatinate Oberamt Stromberg.

Regular events

The Nieder-Hilbersheimer curb always takes place on the second weekend in September. A nostalgic farmers and craftsmen's market is held in the old town center on the third weekend in October every year. As part of this market, a unique musical evening prayer by candlelight will take place on Saturday evening from 6 p.m.
