Dolgesheim is a municipality in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Rhein-Selz community , which has its administrative headquarters in the city of Oppenheim .
geography
The municipality of Dolgesheim is located on Gaustraße ( Landesstraße 425) in the middle between Mainz and Worms . The closest larger city is Alzey, about 10 kilometers southwest .
Geographically the highest point is the Kreuzberg at 211 m above sea level. NHN .
history
The place "Dulgisheim" was first mentioned in a document on November 5, 769 when it was donated to Lorsch Abbey. At that time a Theo and his wife Unsetz gave the monastery two acres of farmland " in pago Wormat in Dulgisheimer Mark ". The copy book contains a total of 7 documents from Dolgesheim.
The father of the minstrel Friedrich von Hausen Walther owned in Dolgesheim, Dienheim and Gensingen . In Worms-Ibersheim and Groß-Rohrheim he had been Vogt.
By the end of the 18th century was Dolgesheim reichsritterschaftlicher owned by the Counts of Leiningen . During the so-called French era , the place was the seat of a Mairie in the canton of Oppenheim , which was part of the Donnersberg department . Eimsheim and Wintersheim also belonged to Mairie Dolgesheim . Due to the agreements reached at the Congress of Vienna in 1815 and a state treaty concluded in 1816 between Hesse , Austria and Prussia , the region and with it the municipality of Dolgesheim came to the Grand Duchy of Hesse and was assigned to the province of Rheinhessen by this . After the dissolution of the Rhine-Hessian cantons, the place came to the newly established Mainz district in 1835 and to the Oppenheim district in 1852 .
Between 1825 and 1931, the construction of Gaustraße between Mainz and Worms brought good connections to the cities of Rheinhessen. Dolgesheim was therefore connected to the water (1907) and electricity (1913) network early on.
From 1972 to 2014 Dolgesheim belonged to the Guntersblum community and since July 1, 2014 to the Rhein-Selz community .

Municipal council
The council in Dolgesheim consists of sixteen council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman. The local mayor is Klaus Backhaus (Zukunft Dolgesheim e.V.). He was elected in the local elections on May 26, 2019 with a share of 81.79% of the votes; his inauguration took place on August 12, 2019. Michael Schreiber (SPD), who had previously been in office since 2004, did not run for election.

Dolgesheim is connected to the communities of Oppenheim, Guntersblum and Wörrstadt with the ORN bus routes 663 and 668 .
There is a connection by car via the federal highway 9 from Oppenheim via Dienheim , Uelversheim and Weinolsheim or from Guntersblum via Eimsheim . The community can be reached from the A 61 from the Alzey exit via Gau-Odernheim and Hillesheim .
Culture and sights
Buildings
- The Protestant parish church (formerly St. Bonifatius) is the oldest building in town. The foundation walls go back to the 13th century. After its renovation, it is a gem among the Protestant churches in Rheinhessen .
- In the middle of the village, on Gaustraße, is the town hall , built in 1594 .
- A field cross has recently been erected on the Kreuzberg .
- Former synagogue , built in 1852
