In addition to Steeg , Bacharach and Oberdiebach, Manubach belonged to the "Viertälergebiet", which was owned by the Archdiocese of Cologne as early as the 10th century . The place was first mentioned in 1190 in a document from the Ravengiersburg monastery .

In 1794 French revolutionary troops occupied the left bank of the Rhine , and in 1798 the area was integrated into the French state . Under French administration, Manubach belonged to the canton of Bacharach in the Simmern arrondissement until 1814 , which was assigned to the Rhine-Moselle department . After the Peace of Paris (1814), the region was subordinated to the Joint State Administration Commission based in Kreuznach , which was under the administration of Austria and Bavaria . As a result of the resolutions made at the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the Rhine-Moselle Department, including Manubach, was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia . Economy and Infrastructure

Viticulture

The vineyards are located on the south-facing slopes and are a testament to the town's great winemaking tradition in the Middle Rhine wine-growing region . The history of individual wineries can be traced back to the mid-18th century. In 1960 there were still 94 wineries in Manubach that produced grapes - today only a few wineries and the Loreley Bacharach winegrowers 'association are active as a winegrowers' cooperative . The establishment of a new winery in 2001 ties in with the old winemaking tradition. The Gailsbach, called Gunzenbach in the upper reaches, flows through the valley down to the Rhine. On the opposite side, on the northern slopes, there are orchards.

traffic

The federal motorway 61 is reached after approx. 10 km at the junction Rheinböllen. A citizens' bus called “Vierthäler” has been in existence since January 22, 2013 and is primarily intended to help older people with their everyday mobility.
