Benno Neuhaus (CDU) has been the full-time mayor of the Gau-Algesheim community since January 1, 2018. In the direct election on June 11, 2017, he was elected to succeed Dieter Linck (Free Voters), who had held the office since 2002 and had not run again, with a share of 51.3% of the votes.
