history

Plan of Gau-Algesheim by Gottfried Mascop. Below the Welzbach.

In the city map of Gau-Algesheim , which Gottfried Mascop drew in his atlas of the offices of Olm, Algesheim and Bingen am Rhein on the left bank of the Rhine in 1577 , the Welzbach is referred to as the weltzer dreck fluvius .

Until the beginning of the 19th century, the water of the Welzbach fed several mills . Today the stream is accompanied by a developed, largely paved bike path .
