history

The Sporkenheimer Hof was mentioned under the name Spurchenheim in the 12th century. In 1128, the Archbishop of Mainz, Adalbert , acquired the court from an estate of Margrave Rudolf von Stade, who in turn sold it to the choir brothers of St. Martin in Mainz to improve their prebends . From 1423 the Sporkenheimer Hof was part of the Nieder-Ingelheimer district, this condition remained until the city became a town. In 1375 the court was given to the Electoral Palatinate as an imperial deposit . In the late Middle Ages there were six farms in the hamlet. Five farms belonged to noble families, one of them belonged to the Ober-Ingelheim Cistercian convent Engelthal.

Until 1601, the tithe rights were held by the St. Stephansstift in Mainz. The farms were acquired in the 18th century by Baron Franz Adolf Dietrich von Ingelheim, who merged the Sporkenheimer Hof with his Gaulsheim property. In 1807 the previous hereditary estates acquired the farms and incorporated them into their private property. In 1939 the hamlet of Sporkenheim was combined with Frei-Weinheim, Ober-Ingelheim and Nieder-Ingelheim to form the town of Ingelheim am Rhein.
