Michael Cyriax

Michael Cyriax (born October 12, 1969 in Marburg ) is a Hessian politician ( CDU ) and since October 1, 2011 district administrator of the Main-Taunus district .

Life

Professional background

After graduating from high school , Michael Cyriax completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk . From 1992 to 1997 he studied law at the Philipps University in Marburg . In 1997 he passed the first state examination in law and in 1999 the second state examination in law, each with distinction.

He then worked as a lawyer in the tax law department in Giessen . Since 2000 he has been a lawyer in the tax and legal department of KPMG Deutsche Treuhand-Gesellschaft Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft .

Politics and volunteering

Michael Cyriax has been politically active since he joined the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) in 1987. From 1992 to 2002 he was a board member in various functions of the CDU and Junge Union in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district association . In addition, he was a member of the local council in Dautphetal and was a member of the district council in Marburg-Biedenkopf.

Since 2002, Cyriax has been a district member, together with District Administrator Berthold Gall and the first district member Hans-Jürgen Hielscher, at the head of the administration of the Main-Taunus district. He has been deputy chairman of the CDU district association Main-Taunus since 2004.

In the direct district election on March 27, 2011, Cyriax was elected district administrator of the Main-Taunus district with 61.5 percent of the vote. The turnout was 49.6 percent. On April 23, 2017, he was re-elected as district administrator with 67.6% of the vote. The turnout was 28.6%.

Michael Cyriax lives with his wife in Hofheim am Taunus . The couple adopted a girl from Haiti in September 2012 .
