Jan Weckler

Jan Weckler (born December 15, 1971 in Salmünster ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and district administrator of the Wetterau district since 2018 .

Life

Weckler grew up in Ober-Mörlen from the age of three and attended elementary school there from 1978 to 1982. From 1982 to 1991 he went to the Sankt Lioba School in Bad Nauheim . After doing his military service between 1991 and 1992 , he studied from 1992 to 1997 at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen to become a teacher for high schools in the subjects of history and Catholic religion, and from 1994 also in the subject of social studies. Weckler completed his studies with the first state examination. He then completed a legal clerkship at the Christian-Wirth-Schule , a grammar school in Usingen, from 1997 to 1999 , and passed the second state examination.

Weckler first worked as a teacher from 1999 to 2000 at the Taunusgymnasium in Königstein im Taunus , then from 2000 to 2004 at the Ricarda-Huch-Schule, a cooperative comprehensive school in Giessen . From 2004 to 2006 he was a speaker for the "Speeches of the Prime Minister" in the Hessian State Chancellery in Wiesbaden . In 2006 he was promoted to senior government councilor. From 2006 to 2008 he was school inspector at the Institute for Quality Development . In 2008 he was promoted to director of education. From 2008 to 2016 he was the department head for grammar schools and comprehensive schools with upper level at the state education authority for the Hochtaunus and Wetterau districts. During this time he was promoted to Head of Education in 2010. In 2016 he acted as provisional head of department at the state education authority for the city of Frankfurt am Main .

His political career began in the Junge Union in the 1980s . In 1995 he became a member of the CDU. From 1997 to 2001, and again from 2006 to 2017, he was a member of the municipal council of Ober-Mörlen, where he was also parliamentary group chairman from 2011 to 2016, and from 2016 to 2017 deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. From 2016 to 2018 he was the first district member of the Wetterau district.

On March 4, 2018, he ran for the district election in the Wetterau district. With four candidates in the first ballot, he received most of the votes cast with 44.3%. In the runoff election that followed on March 18, he received 57.0% of the votes cast. He took office on April 18, 2018.

Weckler is married and has two daughters.
