In the years 1976 to 1979 he completed a part-time evening course (7 semesters) at the Mainz Business Academy, which he completed with an administrative diploma.

After leaving the office of district administrator, Gnadl moved to the management of Oberhessische Vertriebsbetriebe AG (OVAG) at the beginning of 2008 . He was a member until the end of December 2017 when he retired. His successor was Joachim Arnold .

He is married and has two daughters. His daughter Lisa Gnadl has been a member of the Hessian state parliament since January 2008 .

Political career

Rolf Gnadl has been a member of the SPD in various functions since 1973. Since 1982 he has been a member of the SPD sub-district executive committee of Wetterau. From 1984 to 2000 he was deputy chairman of the SPD sub-district executive committee in Wetterau. Since 1984 he has been a member of the state board of the Social Democratic Community for Local Politics (SGK). Between 1983 and 1992 he was a member of the district assembly of the Wetterau district. During this time (1985–1988) he was parliamentary group leader of the SPD district parliamentary group. Since 2001 he has been a member of the SPD regional executive committee for Frankfurt RheinMain.

In 1979, 1984 and 1990 he was elected mayor of the community of Glauburg .

His first election to the district administrator of the Wetterau district took place in 1992. Re-elections were in 1997 and 2003. In January 2008, he no longer ran for election. His successor was Joachim Arnold (SPD).

Gnadl is one of the most important participants in the regional political discussion about the future design of the Frankfurt urban region . In contrast to the district administrators of most of the other districts bordering Frankfurt am Main , Gnadl supports the SPD's call for the districts to be dissolved in favor of a regional district. As one of only a few representatives of the surrounding areas, Gnadl is of the opinion that the functional and fiscal depletion of the core cities of Frankfurt and Offenbach due to suburbanization effects - also in the medium-term interest of the surrounding area itself - must be stopped and absorbed by a system of regional solidarity.
