Vimbuch is a district of the city of Bühl in the west of Baden-Württemberg , around ten kilometers southwest of Baden-Baden .

Geographical location

Vimbuch is located around 36 km from Karlsruhe in the Rastatt district in a landscape defined by arable land.

The Vimbuch district, with around 2800 inhabitants, is on the plain, only a few kilometers from the foot of the Black Forest. The central location of the village - only three kilometers from the city center and located at the Bühl junction of the A5 - meant that Vimbuch developed extraordinarily (800 inhabitants in 1960). Large industrial areas with medium-sized companies provide many jobs on site.

history

In 1154 Vimbuch was first mentioned as Vindtbuoch as one of the main properties of the Benedictine Abbey of Schwarzach . It is believed that the name is composed of the saints name St. Fint (an) and “buch” for beech forest.

On January 1, 1973 Vimbuch was incorporated into the city of Bühl.

Attractions

Rectory

The parish church of St. Johannes was built as a neo-Gothic church between 1888 and 1891. The church was consecrated by the then Archbishop Johann Christian Roos . Inside the sacred building there is a late Gothic altarpiece , which was created in 1508 by the Alsatian sculptor Niklaus von Hagenau . It is an altar shrine with rich tendrils, three figure niches with figures standing on pedestals.

The town hall, the baroque rectory, built in 1732 under Abbot Coelestin Staehlin of the Schwarzach monastery and the St. Bernhard kindergarten are still in the center of the village.

Partnerships

A special feature is the partnership with the Alsatian municipality of Mommenheim. There is a regular exchange. People visit each other especially at the local festivities. The primary school has contact with the local school, maintains correspondence and makes regular visits. Some clubs also keep in contact with each other, so that German-French friendship is cultivated in a variety of ways. Out of solidarity, the Friends of Flowers from Mommenheim donate the summer flora for Mommenheimer Platz every year, which the fruit and horticultural association created at the southern entrance to the town.
