history
Early history
It is believed that the settlement is of high medieval origin. The first mention can be found in a document from the Schwarzach monastery from 1325. Stone Age splits and pre-Roman shards are present on archaeological finds . The name Moos is derived from the Low German word "moor", which means something like "swampy lowland". It is attributed to the nature of the soil in the area before settlement. The development of the settlement is determined by the Schwarzach Monastery, in whose immunity district Moos was located. From the end of the Middle Ages, sovereign rulers were the margraves of Baden .
