Christian journeyman
Christian Geselle (born March 7, 1976 in Kassel ) is a German administrative lawyer and politician ( SPD ). He has been Lord Mayor of Kassel since July 22, 2017 .
Life
Journeyman grew up in Kassel- Niederzwehren . After attending Wilhelmsgymnasium and graduating from high school in 1995, he completed training as a police officer. From 1995 to 2005 he worked as a police officer in Frankfurt and studied law in Göttingen at the same time. He then worked as an administrative lawyer for the State of Hesse .
Journeyman lives in the Niederzwehren district and is a member of the volunteer fire brigade , TSG 87 Niederzwehren and the HSG Zwehren support association. Journeyman is a member of the supervisory board of the football Hessen league club KSV Hessen Kassel .
He has two children.
politics
Geselle had been a member of the city council in Kassel since 2006 and took over the chairmanship of the SPD parliamentary group there in 2013. On May 1, 2015, he became head of Department IV - Real Estate and Social Affairs - of the city of Kassel and took over the office of city treasurer on August 1, 2015 . In the Mayor election on March 5, 2017, he prevailed against his five competitors with a voter turnout of 36.49% with 56.60% of the votes and thus replaced his predecessor Bertram Hilgen on July 22, 2017 , who did not after two terms in office more was up for election.
