Wolfram Bremeier

Wolfram Bremeier (* 1939 in Jena ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and civil servant. From 1991 to 1993 he was Lord Mayor of the City of Kassel .

Life

Bremeier grew up in Eisenach and came to Göttingen with his family at the age of 12 , where he attended elementary school and then a commercial school.

He worked for several years as a civil servant at the district courts of Hanover , Northeim , Herzberg and Göttingen . He resigned from the judiciary in 1963.

From 1961 to 1963 he studied at the evening school in Göttingen, where he acquired the secondary school leaving certificate. After studying at the school from 1963 to 1965, he finished high school at the Braunschweig College.

He became interested in politics from an early age. In 1965 Bremeier joined the SPD.

From 1965 to 1970 he studied economics in Göttingen and Munich . Bremeier graduated with a degree in economics.

After working in the Göttingen city administration for three years, he went to Hann as a treasurer . Münden , where he worked for six years.

From 1980 to 1985 he was head of the department for economy and transport in Kassel , from 1980 to 1988 managing director of the Bundesgartenschau 1981 GmbH and from 1982 city treasurer of the city of Kassel. From 1985 to 1989 he was chairman of the board of Städtische Werke AG and Kasseler Verkehrs-Gesellschaft AG.

Term of office as Mayor of the City of Kassel

In 1991, Bremeier was elected Lord Mayor of the City of Kassel. During his tenure, Bremeier made sustainable urban development policy decisions. An impressive example of a successful conversion is the Marbachshöhe in the Bad Wilhelmshöhe district. The foundation stone for the development of the Untereustadt was laid as well as the development around the ICE station Wilhelmshöhe .

Bremeier made the KVG and the municipal works competitive. The first low-floor trams in Germany ran through Kassel thanks to a successful cooperation in public transport .

During his tenure, Wolfram Bremeier attached great importance to an independently established cultural department. The modernization of the Ottoneum and a successful documenta IX were tackled during this period.

In the first direct election on July 4, 1993, Bremeier was replaced by the Christian Democrat Georg Lewandowski .

After the term of office

After his tenure as Lord Mayor, Bremeier went to Leipzig , where he worked from 1993 to 2000 as managing director of the consulting company for investments in the city of Leipzig. From 2000 to 2002 he held the post of Managing Director of the German Local Transport Company in Hanover.

Since 2003, Bremeier has been an independent consultant in Kassel. He volunteers in the cultural area of ​​the city of Kassel.
