Kirsten Fründt ( March 30, 1967 in Marburg - January 19, 2022 ) was a German politician ( SPD ). From 2014 until her death she was district administrator of the district Marburg-Biedenkopf .

Life

After graduating from the Elisabeth School in Marburg , she completed an apprenticeship as a gardener in the botanical garden of the Philipps University in Marburg . Fründt later studied agricultural sciences at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . She then worked as a research assistant at the professorship for landscape ecology and landscape planning. After working in the city of Marburg’s urban green, environment and nature department from 2000 to 2012, she worked from the beginning of 2013 as head of the sports department.

Kirsten Fründt was married and leaves two daughters. She lived in the Ockershausen district of Marburg . In early 2022 she died as a result of a brain tumor .

Political career

Kirsten Fründt became a member of the SPD in 2010 and ran for the post of district administrator for the Marburg-Biedenkopf district in 2013. In the direct election on September 8, 2013, she received 34.27% of the vote. In the run-off election on September 22, 2013, she prevailed against Marian Zachow (CDU) with 60.58% of the votes and was elected district administrator for a term of six years. She took over this position from her predecessor, Robert Fischbach , on February 1, 2014 . In 2019, Fründt was again nominated as a candidate for the district council election in September and achieved 57% of the votes in the first ballot. Since December 2016 she has been the state chairwoman of the Social Democratic Association for Local Politics in Hesse. Before the 2018 state elections , SPD top candidate Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel included Kirsten Fründt in his shadow cabinet as a potential finance minister.
