Burghard Vilmar

Burghard Vilmar (born June 28, 1933 in Kassel ) is a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ). From 1975 to 1979 and from 1984 to 1987 he was regional president of the administrative district of Kassel and from 1978 to 1984 State Secretary in the Hessian Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs .

Life and work

After graduation Vilmar began studying the law, he with two state examination and awarded the degree of Dr. jur. finished. He then joined the Hessian civil service as an assessor. He initially worked at the regional council in Kassel and in 1965 switched to the district administration in Marburg as legal advisor .

Public offices

Vilmar was from 1966 to 1974 district administrator of the Marburg district and, after the regional reform in 1974/75, provisional district administrator of the newly created district of Marburg-Biedenkopf . In January 1975 he was voted out of office as district administrator by the new majority in the district council consisting of CDU and FWG after the local election was lost. From 1975 to 1979 and from 1984 to 1987 he was President of the Kassel administrative district. In the meantime, from 1978 to 1984, he served as State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture in the government of the State of Hesse led by Prime Minister Holger Börner . With the state elections in Hesse in 1987 , the more than 40-year-old government of the SPD in Hesse came to an end and Burghard Vilmar was dismissed as president of the government. He then worked as a lawyer. Since 1978 he has been a member of the Historical Commission for Hesse .
