Kurt Kliem

Kurt Kliem (* 1931 ) is a German political scientist and politician ( SPD ). From 1985 to 1996 he was District Administrator of the Marburg-Biedenkopf district .

Life

Kliem graduated from the Institute for Political Science at the Philipps University in Marburg . He received his doctorate in 1957 with his work The Socialist Resistance Against the Third Reich: Depicted on the group "New Beginning" . He later became a professor of political science at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen .

Political career

As the successor to Christean Wagner (CDU), Kurt Kliem was elected District Administrator of the Marburg-Biedenkopf district in July 1985. During his first term in office he led a red-green coalition, and in his second term, a grand coalition. In total, he was district administrator for eleven years until he retired in January 1996 for reasons of age. He was replaced by Robert Fischbach as the first directly elected candidate.
