Ludwig von Bodelschwingh
Ludwig Carl Christoph von Bodelschwingh (* July 6th, 1811 in Hamm ; † October 27th, 1879 in Bonn ) was Upper President in Hessen-Nassau from 1872 to 1876 .
origin
He came from the Westphalian nobility family von Bodelschwingh . He was the son of the Prussian major Gisbert von Bodelschwingh and his second wife Karoline von Sudthausen.
Life
Von Bodelschwingh attended high school in Hamm and the University of Göttingen (from 1828) and Berlin (from 1830). On September 17, 1831, he passed the first state examination (with "very good"). From 1830 to 1831 he did military service with the Guard Rifle Battalion in Berlin. He spent his legal clerkship from 1831 at the Hamm Higher Regional Court and at the Hamm Regional and City Court. On September 9, 1833, he passed the internship exam, again with "very good". From October 10, 1833, he was an appointee at the regional court and from May 10, 1839, he was an appointee for the regional court in Hamm.
A few years later, he switched to the administrative service of the government in Minden as legal counsel and from then on remained an administrative officer.
From Minden he was transferred as a councilor to the Upper Presidium of the Province of Saxony in Magdeburg , where in 1848 he worked part-time as a commissioner for the railway construction carried out with state participation. From Magdeburg his path led him in 1850 as a department head to the government in Königsberg , and in 1851 to Münster . In 1850 he was a member of the state house of the Erfurt Union Parliament . On March 25, 1852 he was the referee in the duel between Vincke and Bismarck .
In 1853 he served as the Vice President of the Government in Szczecin . From this position he was appointed two years later as director of the department for domains and forests in the Ministry of Finance and at the same time appointed to the real secret upper finance council. After more than ten years in the ministry, he returned to the starting point of his administrative career at his own request and became regional president in Minden.
Subsequently, he was appointed senior president in Hessen-Nassau. He played a decisive role in the planning for the construction of the government's administration building. Von Bodelschwingh was appointed Real Privy Councilor when he left.
After his departure he lived in Bonn until his death in 1879 .
From 1849 to 1852 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives (rights).
family
He married on May 22, 1844 in Haus Bodelschwingh Marie nee Vietsch (born February 19, 1824 in Düsseldorf, † July 25, 1888 there), the daughter of the Prussian major Eugen von Vietsch. His wife died exactly a month before him. The marriage resulted in a son and four daughters.
