Paul Hagemeister (born January 25, 1868 in Bahn / Pomerania; † February 17, 1941 in Bonn ) was first mayor in Suhl / Thuringia, member of the Prussian House of Representatives and regional president in Minden. He belonged to the DDP ( German Democratic Party ) and was a member of the Prussian State Constitutional Assembly .

Life and work

After graduating from high school on July 27, 1887 in Gartz / Oder, Hagemeister began studying law at the University of Greifswald in the winter semester of 1887 . From 1886 he was a member of the Greifswald fraternity Rugia . After the first state legal examination on February 13, 1892, he was a trainee lawyer at the Higher Regional Court of Stettin and at the District Court of Bahn / Pomerania. On May 7th, 1892, he was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD. After another traineeship with the Berlin magistrate, Hagemeister left the judicial service in 1893 to work as a lecturer and manager of the Royal Literary Office in Berlin. On August 9, 1900, he was elected a paid city councilor in Zeitz and on December 10, 1901, he was elected the first mayor of Suhl - inauguration on February 15, 1902.

He experienced the First World War as first lieutenant in the reserve and adjutant at the station command in Apolda and later as captain of the reserve. After his departure from the mayor's office of Suhl on March 15, 1920, he took up his post as district president in Minden / Westphalia on June 5, 1920 . He was released into retirement on March 31, 1933, which he spent in Bonn.

In addition to his work as mayor, Hagemeister was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives from 1914 to 1918 as a member of the Erfurt 5 constituency (Schleusingen - Ziegenrück) . From 1918 he was a member of the Saxon Provincial Parliament . From 1920 to 1921 he was a substitute member of the Prussian State Constitutional Assembly.

Hagemeister married Anna Uecker in 1896, with whom he had two daughters (Rose and Marianne).
